Background Check
Hello everyone! This will be my first ever blogging experience! I have read blogs before, but I have never made my own. Please bear with me if this doesn't look quite right because setting up this blogging page was a little difficult to begin with. 😆
I think to start off my blog I should give ya'll a little detail into my passion for helping animals in need.
I have always been an animal lover since I can remember. This has never been surprising to me because my mother is the same way. We have had many animals over the years like dogs, guinea pigs, bunnies, fish, lizards, and ducks. We have helped to nurse wild animals back to health for many years.
The picture below is just one of the many baby rabbits that we were able to rehabilitate to be released. Every year, we get calls from people around town with orphaned rabbits that we can't say no to. I mean look how cute that baby is! 💓
This is a photo of baby opossums that I found in the road late at night due to the mother being hit by a car. I didn't have any experience with rehabilitating baby opossums, so these little guys were transported to the vet students at the University of Illinois. They made this sneezing sound the whole car ride to Champaign, which is the sound they make to call their mother. 😭
This is my current pet duck, Suni. He is about 9 years old. He was part of a lesson for elementary children about the life cycle. Suni was the only duck that was hatched that year since they usually hatch baby chicks. He struggled to get out of his egg and with no mother to help peel the egg shell off, I took tweezers and helped him to get out. He had a piece of egg shell on his head for almost a year until it finally fell off. 💛

These are only a few of the animals that my mother and I have helped to rescue in some way. My passion for animals has stemmed from my mother's. When the animal shelter came to town in 2008 there wasn't a doubt that I needed to be involved. Their mission speaks volumes to me which is the reason that I have been a member for 12 years and counting! 🐾
