Poppy's Worst Day

Poppy Sue was spayed last Friday. I have never had a dog that was spayed before. My mom wouldn't get our previous dog spayed as she had a bad experience with her old dog. So let me just tell you, I felt like the worst dog mom ever after we picked her up from the vet's office.

Poor Poppy was so excited to go to the vet. She loves it there, and they love her! She went bounding into the office excited to see everyone, but little did she know what was about to come.

Her spay did not take too long, and we were able to pick her up within 4 hours. She came out of that office a different dog. She looked like she had been drug through a hole! Her face hair was a mess, it looked like she had been crying, and her belly was shaved so much. She could hardly keep her eyes open from the anesthesia. She was lethargic and nauseous! I felt AWFUL!! The worst mom EVER!

I did not let her paws touch the ground for the rest of the day if I could help it. My arms felt like jelly from carrying her 40lb fluffy butt allover the house. I carried her up and down the stairs to bed. I made her an ice cold glass of water to drink from so she didn't have to get up to go to her bowl. I let her eat *almost* anything that was appealing to her.

Luckily, Poppy is feeling much better now! She is almost back to her normal self! She is now causing her usual chaos and mischief. She feels much better and so do I.

She came out of the vet office in a hurry. Lol, my poor baby!

  1. I remember when my baby girl Harley (a german shepherd) had to get spayed. She is such a primadonna that I had to carry her all the way to the car because the drugs did not fully wear off when I picked her up. Your dog is so adorable though!!!

  2. You're not a bad mom! You are looking out for her, and took care of her after the procedure. I am glad to hear that she is doing much better now! I enjoyed getting to see her in our past online zoom class on Tuesday! :)
